Wawa is a popular chain of convenience stores and gas stations mostly found on the East Coast, especially in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and Florida. Starting in 1964 in Pennsylvania, Wawa has grown to over 900 locations. People love Wawa for its tasty food options, like custom-made hoagies, fresh coffee, and various snacks and drinks. You can also grab some groceries there, making it a handy stop.
What sets Wawa apart is its friendly service and clean, well-kept stores. Many locations are open 24/7, so you can count on them anytime. Wawa has built a loyal following by engaging with the community and supporting local causes. Their focus on quality and convenience has made Wawa a favorite spot for many, standing out from other convenience store chains.
Wawa has also made strides to cater to the growing vegan community. They offer a range of vegan-friendly options, including salads, fresh fruit, and plant-based snacks. Wawa used to have items like vegan hoagies with Beyond Meat, but these specific Beyond Meat options are no longer on the menu. However, you can still enjoy their customizable vegan hoagies and burrito bowls with various toppings like avocado, roasted veggies, and vegan sauces. They also provide various dairy-free milk options for their coffee and smoothies.

Best vegan options at Wawa
Many different plant-based options are available at Wawa, but not all are great since you must exclude most of the crucial ingredients to make them vegan. So, in that case, I recommend the following vegan menu items at Wawa.
Roasted Veggie Breakfast Burrito
The roasted veggie breakfast burrito is a pretty decent vegan breakfast option at Wawa, even if you order it without cheese and eggs. You can also add tomatoes, chipotle sauce, avocado, spinach and other plant-based toppings to it.
Veggie Avocado Toast
Toasted panini with delicious avocado spread and various vegetables. Fine, isn’t it? Also, you can add some other veggie toppings if you want to make it more interesting.
Southwest Roasted (chicken) Veggie Salad
This is a great salad option since it won’t be just sad greens if you exclude the cheese and the chicken. So, here is the notes: substitute the chicken with the roasted veggies or portobello (or both), and exclude the cheese. You can also add balsamic vinegar dressings to make it even better.
Rice & bean bowls or burritos
Both options are very welcome as vegans. You can add other veggie extras such as avocado, salsa, onion, etc.
Roasted Veggie Rice Burrito
It’s a great vegan option at Wawa. It is quite healthy – or at least not that unhealthy -, tasty and filling. Furthermore, you can add many different plant-based toppings to it, to make it more colorful.
Black Bean Burrito Bowl
There is a hot and spicy vegan option at Wawa. You should give it a chance; I promise you won’t regret it!
Hash browns
Luckily, hash browns and french fries are vegan at Wawa. Also, plain – without protein – loaded fries are cruelty-free. Unfortunately, smashed potatoes are not vegan since they contain dairy.
Many-many different smoothies
There are many different frozen smoothies that are naturally vegan. Luckily, Wawa usually uses water for the smoothies. Also, many other flavors are available with oat milk, which is even more smoothie. Just a few examples: Dragonfruit oat milk smoothie, Strawberry Mango Banana with Oat Milk Smoothie, and Strawberry Passionfruit Oat Milk Smoothie. I can do this all day.
Coffees
Also, I must highlight Wawa’s coffee section since it is pretty good. Many options exist, such as vanilla-flavored iced coffee, cold brew, or chai latte. If you drink your coffee with milk, you must choose oat milk.
Wawa vegan offers in a nutshell
Wawa is a vast—pleasant—surprise for vegans. There are many different vegan options, such as black bean burrito bowls or roasted veggie rice burritos. Also, there is a massive selection of vegan oat milk smoothies, which is very welcomed since none of the desserts is vegan. Also, there is an enormous opportunity to costumize your order with extra veggie toppings.
In short, Wawa offers a great deal for vegans, and I recommend it to everyone who follows a plant-based diet.
